Amariilo, TX was only a few hours from my previous campground in Tucumcari, NM, but I’d lost another hour due to time changes and was so utterly exhausted that I couldn’t have handled a longer drive. As it was, I spent most of the afternoon after I’d arrived and set up wandering around in a daze.

A row of 6 metal mariachis in rust red and yellow lined up in the grass in front of a tan storefront with a sign reading Elev 3597 overhead.
Amarillo KOA office and store

I remember having to mail something (a payment? I think? for something that slipped through the cracks when I moved), and buying a card to put it in at the store, and having to repeatedly ask, and be told, how to buy a stamp for it. Eventually got it mailed.

A walkway leading off to the side of a building in a campground. Directly across the road at the end of the walkway is a truck and trailer.
My trailer, directly across the road from the laundry room.

I also remember getting lost trying to find my way back to the trailer after taking a load of laundry to the laundry room. Then, when I went back to the office the next day, I came out by the walkway from the laundry room and saw that my trailer was right there, directly across the road.

I took a nap after getting my laundry done, got up to eat a late dinner, and went right back to bed. It was a cute campground, with lots of amenities and decorations brightening up the area. Wish I’d had more energy when I was there! But I got lots of rest and was ready to go again the next morning.
